Lauren’s newest release, Word Made Flesh: Echoes of Faith in the Hebrew Alphabet, explores how Christ fulfills the pictographic imagery and characteristics of each Hebrew letter from Alef to Tav. If Christ is the Word, then surely, He is revealed in every letter of the Word.

When Jesus declared that He is the Alpha and Omega, or in Hebrew the Alef and the Tav, His claim was much greater than being the first and the last. The imagery of the Hebrew alphabet reveals that He is the sacrificial ox and the cross. Unpack the meaning behind the word pictures embedded in the Hebrew alphabet and add a deeper understanding of how Jesus, the Word made flesh, fulfills each letter. This Bible study honors the demands of today’s life. It provides a rich opportunity to experience Jesus with a fresh layer of insight through manageable chapters similar in size to a devotional, yet it contains the wisdom of a deeper study.

Praise for Lauren’s previous book, Strength of a Woman

Womanhood is now flanked on two fronts. Religious rights have ingrained an unrealistic standard of perfection, while at the same time, we face becoming completely eradicated from the left. Author and teacher Lauren Crews answered the call, but not in the way one expects. This ain’t your momma’s Proverbs 31. Strength of a Woman: Why You Are Proverbs 31 was awarded the Christian Market Book of the Year and relates the Hebrew imagery to this often-controversial biblical passage, unlocking affirming truths for today’s woman. Available through New Hope Publishers.

Strength of a Woman is an answer to prayer for every woman who has ever resented the Proverbs 31 Woman, as it reveals this passage of Scripture celebrates our worth, value, and strength as women. We no longer need to feel inferior to the woman showcased in Proverbs 31; instead, we can celebrate her because we are her, or at least we can be. While this isn’t a quick read, its contents are worth every minute spent immersed in the Hebraic insights this author brings out in a very relatable manner. Get Strength of a Woman and grow stronger in your walk with God.”—Michelle Medlock Adams, award-winning and best-selling author of more than ninety books, including Platinum Faith, They Call Me Mom, and Fabulous and Focused

“Author Lauren Crews has given us a great gift by writing Strength of a Woman,  allowing us the opportunity to reconnect with the Proverbs 31 Woman—not as an  unrealistic goal or proof of failure—but as an attainable model for a strong woman of God.”—Edie Melson, award-winning author and director of the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference

“In Strength of a Woman, Lauren Crews dives into the Hebrew language and contemplates the famous virtuous woman’s passage in Proverbs 31. Lauren explains the passage was not designed to make women feel overwhelmed by an impossible to-do list, but rather serves to promote the warrior woman you can emulate as you love, work, build, and overcome your own life’s challenges. A great read!”—Linda Evans Shepherd, author of When You Need to Move a Mountain, publisher of Leading Hearts magazine and Arise Daily Devotionals, founder of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association

“I believe we’ve lost much of the meaning of Scripture by not incorporating our Jewish roots and the Hebrew language. I’m a Bible nerd, and I often incorporate Hebrew into my own writing, but Lauren Crews takes us one step further by introducing the symbolism of the Hebrew alphabet. What could have been painfully academic, Lauren has gracefully written in a way that relates to our hearts. Strength of a Woman gently and beautifully teaches us about the true and empowering meaning of Proverbs 31. If you’ve tried to measure up to this ‘perfect’ wife and mother, this is a must-read.”—Andy Lee, author of A Mary Like Me: Flawed Yet Called

 General Talking Points:

 1.      This study blends scholarly insight with devotional accessibility. How did you balance deep biblical symbolism with approachable, everyday application?

Jesus gives us the answer. In calling himself The Door or The Life, he” he relates himself to the imagery of the Hebrew alphabet in a way that his original listeners would have understood.

 2.      In a world full of distractions and quick devotionals, why is it worth slowing down to explore the depth of biblical language?

There is so much we miss because we don’t understand the words or culture. God’s word has many layers, and when we slow down and explore, He reveals Himself in amazing ways.

3.      For readers who don’t speak Hebrew or are intimidated by language studies, what would you say to encourage them to explore this material?

It isn’t a lesson in Hebrew but a lesson in Hebrew thinking and how your relationship with Christ can be enhanced.
